EU guidance on tackling ozone pollution
Official guidance to EU states on short-term actions to reduce ozone air pollution peaks and on monitoring levels of ozone precursors has been published in the bloc's official journal. The guidelines were required to be produced under amended EU ozone pollution rules that entered force in 2002 (EED 12/03/02). They have taken on a greater political significance following severe and widespread smog episodes during last summer's heatwave in Europe and the perceived threat of their return in future (EED 24/10/03). See guidance.
