EU export "best solution" for Czech POPs waste
An academic report on the Czech Republic's national strategy to comply with the Stockholm convention on persistent organic pollutants (POPs) has highlighted a serious lack of "technological capacity" to deal with PCBs and organochloride pesticides. Exporting contaminated waste to EU countries would be the "best solution" to the problem, one of the report's authors, Ivan Holoubek, told ENDS Europe DAILY. If this proves impractical, then construction of secure storage might offer an interim solution, he added. The report has now been handed over to the environment ministry. See report.
