WWF accused of flame retardant alarmism
Brominated flame retardant makers have attacked environmental group WWF over a series of "alarmist" reports demonstrating the presence of flame retardant deca-BDE in people's blood (See EED 25/11/03 and EED 30/01/04). Based on its findings (the latest instalment of which is due to be published on Wednesday), WWF wants deca-BDE to be banned. Bsef commissioned two expert opinions on whether the deca-BDE levels reported by WWF posed any risk. Both concluded that they were in fact "well below any possible concern for human health", Bsef said on Monday. See press release.
