Green issues to appear in UK corporate reviews
Operating and financial reviews required of all publicly quoted UK companies will have to include social and enviromental performance from 2005, the UK industry ministry announced last Wednesday. The new regulation, which will affect nearly 1,300 firms, is out for consultation until 6 August. Although operating and financial reviews are produced by company directors for the benefit of shareholders, they will also be "useful to other vital stakeholders", industry minister Patricia Hewitt said. Draft reporting guidelines will be issued later this year. See press release and consultation document.
