Green groups highlight concerns over chemicals
Environmental groups WWF and Friends of the Earth (FoE) have expressed renewed concern that chemicals found in household items may have harmful effects on children, ahead of a European summit on environment and health in Budapest later this month. In a report, WWF claimed that hazardous chemicals impair children's brain development, and urged a European phase-out. A survey of 28 UK high street stores by FoE found that many retailers did not know which chemicals were contained in products.
