Norway's environmental rulebook simplified
Fifty separate Norwegian laws concerning pollution, product safety and waste have been scrapped and replaced by just three new statutes, the environment ministry announced on Tuesday. Many of the measures transpose EU legislation. The move is part of a government-wide simplification drive aimed at making such legislation more "consumer-friendly". SMEs in particular would now find it easier to understand and comply with regulations, environment minister Børge Brende said in a statement.
