Leaders flag up EU environmental priorities
EU heads of government have urged progress to be made quickly on five environmental policy dossiers in conclusions released on Friday following a two-day summit in Brussels. Firstly, they are the Reach chemicals policy and a review of the EU sustainable development strategy, originally due this spring but now delayed. The conclusions also call for "further work on emission reduction strategies in the context of climate change", promotion of environmental technologies, and implementation of measures to halt biodiversity decline by 2010.
