Franco-British alarm call on climate change
France and Britain's foreign and environment ministers have made a joint call for urgent action to respond to climate change: "unquestioningly the major challenge facing humanity". In an article published in French daily Le Monde, the four ministers stress that Britain and France will respect their Kyoto protocol greenhouse gas targets "despite the reluctance of some states". They reject claims that environmental protection is incompatible with economic growth and call for mobilisation of the international community to meet the global warming challenge.
