Van Geel climate change call angers business
For an EU presidency committed to showing that environmental policies can be business friendly, the Dutch government got off to a bad start with environment minister Pieter Van Geel's call for a global greenhouse gas reduction target of 30% by 2020. Dutch business federation VNO-NCW called the approach "doomed to failure" and insisted that the "Kyoto approach is not working". Mr Van Geel hit back calling VNO-NCW's position "incomprehensible and irresponsible". See VNO-NCW response and minister's riposte.
