UN unveils environmental democracy website
The UN economic commission for Europe (UN/ECE) has launched a website on good practices in "environmental democracy". The site is intended to support implementation of the pan-European Århus convention on citizens' environmental rights. UN/ECE says the Århus clearinghouse will assist compliance with the convention by providing comparative information on national implementing legislation and practices. The agency also hopes the clearinghouse will inspire moves towards greater environmental democracy world-wide. See press release and Århus clearinghouse.
