Countries join forces to push methane recovery
The UK and Italy have signed up with the United States and five other non-EU countries to a partnership promoting clean methane technology across the globe. The 'methane to markets partnership' aims to recover methane emissions from landfills, coal mines and other sources for use as a clean energy source. UK environment minister Elliot Morley said methane was "second only in importance to CO2" in the list of greenhouse gases. The US is to commit up to $53 million to the project.
