Anglo-Welsh water impacts report released

Under the 2000 water framework directive (WFD) all EU states are required to submit such characterisations by 22 March next year. Most are making good progress towards this goal, even for complex international river basins like the Danube and the Rhine, according to the European Commission. Environmental group RSPB warned that the Anglo-Welsh characterisation showed Britain faced major challenges in implementing the WFD.
