Danish businesses query value of 'green reporting'
The Confederation of Danish Industries (DI) has called for repeal of a 1995 law requiring companies to file environmental reports, on the grounds that few are complying. "Green reporting has apparently not yielded companies any kind of public relations or competitive edge", a spokesman told Jyllands-Posten newspaper. "If it had, many more companies would have submitted reports. It ought to be made totally voluntary." While conceding that few companies are filing voluntarily, a spokeswoman for the Danish Environmental Council said: "Green reporting has given companies a new focus on cost savings and resulted in less environmental waste."
