European Parliament plenary, 14-17 April

European Parliament, outside

At a busy final session in Strasbourg, MEPs approved new laws on the deployment of an infrastructure for alternative fuels, corporate reporting and invasive species.

Positions were finalised on cutting plastic bag use and on CO2 monitoring rules for ships. Negotiations with member states will begin in the next term.

Four weeks from polling day, the EPP and S&D both look set to take over 200 seats in the 751-seat Parliament, with the EPP in the lead.

NGOs hope the electorate will pay close attention to political groups' voting records on climate issues during the current term.
