EU economic guidelines "sideline environment"
New European Commission economic policy guidance to EU member states gives the lie to its insistence that environment policy remains central to its plans, green campaign group EEB said on Thursday. Responding to a set of "integrated guidelines" to help governments rejuvenate the Lisbon process, EEB secretary-general John Hontelez said the document "completely marginalises the environment" and was "probably the clearest evidence" that the Commission did not want to make the Lisbon process environmentally sustainable.
