Greenpeace slams "shoddy" Chernobyl report

The International atomic energy agency (IAEA) has deliberately misrepresented the number of lives at risk following the 1986 Chernobyl disaster in order to encourage investment in nuclear power, according to Greenpeace. The NGO says a new report signed by the IAEA, World health organisation (WHO) and other UN agencies is "shoddy, incomplete and contradictory science" based on unreliable IAEA research, and does not include everyone affected by Chernobyl (EED 06/09/05). It says the report even contradicts WHO's own separate ongoing research into the health effects of the nuclear explosion. See press release.
