New laws boost Polish renewable energy

Polish renewable energy producers can now trade on the Polish power exchange, following entry into force on 1 October of new energy and environment laws. The exchange will be fully operational from November, initially with an expected turnover of €180m per year. The new laws require companies to prove that they purchase renewable energy. Those that don't must pay a "substitute fee" of €60 per megawatt hour. Severe fines are available for companies failing to do either. See the new laws, the Polish power exchange, and renewable energy pages of Energy regulation office.
