The European Commission has authorised four hazardous chemicals that already are or will be banned in the EU for uses such as packaging and electroplating.

The EU executive authorised on Wednesday the use of industrial solvent trichloroethylene until dates ranging between February 2019 and April 2028 for processes including packaging, formulation and degreasing. The uses had all been recommended by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) in 2015.
