A European Commission official has rejected an MEP’s call to soften proposed restrictions on cadmium in phosphate fertilisers.

Carlo Pettinelli, director at the Commission’s internal market department, appeared before environment (ENVI) MEPs on Monday to explain the institution’s proposal last year to limit cadmium in phosphate fertilisers traded under the CE mark.
