Greens rue lack of climate funding in EU budget revision

The Greens have criticised the European Parliament for failing to allocate resources to meet commitments in the Paris Agreement in a mid-term review of the 2014-2020 budget

The Greens have criticised the European Parliament for failing to allocate resources to meet commitments in the Paris Agreement in a mid-term review of the 2014-2020 budget.

MEPs passed a resolution on Wednesday allocating €6 billion – two-thirds to support migration-related measures and the remainder for jobs and growth initiatives – but calling for no additional funds.

The EU is facing multiple crises and has a range of new commitments to meet, most notably in respect to the Paris climate agreement,” said Indrek Tarand, a member of the Parliament's budget committee.
