MEPs have voted down an attempt by conservative groups to weaken controversial cadmium limits in fertilisers, backing an even faster phase-down instead.

On Tuesday, the European Parliament’s environment committee narrowly rejected an amendment tabled by the EPP, ECR and ENF groups against a cadmium phase-down schedule proposed by the European Commission last March.
