EU countries have just nine years left of burning fossil fuels at the current rate if they are  to prevent global temperatures rising above 2ºC, according to a new analysis.

The report by the the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and Teesside University for Friends of the Earth Europe said the EU’s support for gas is incompatible with its commitment to the Paris agreement to hold the global temperature increase well below 2ºC.
