EU plans to improve environmental reporting

New rules for environmental reporting that will boost data collection to improve implementation of 56 directives in areas such as waste, water, forestry, chemicals and soil took a major step forward on Wednesday after agreement between the EU’s main institutions.

The European Commission said the legislation is particularly important in the context of waste and climate change, and aims for the new reporting rules to be adopted at the same time that the European Parliament votes on the Circular Economy waste package.
