Several countries have expressed reservations about the EU’s new ship CO2 monitoring rules, which were adopted in Brussels on Wednesday.

Environment ministers approved a political agreement struck with the European Parliament last month on the monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) of CO2 emissions from ships. It requires all ships over 5000 gross tonnes travelling to and from EU ports to report on their emissions from 2018.
