EU energy efficiency measures will save bring 18% energy savings by 2020 for select product groups, with space and water heaters offering the biggest potential, an EU-funded study has found.

Space heaters could account for 28% of the energy savings, with lighting representing 15% and water heaters 13%, according to consultants to the European Commission.

Further savings could come from industrial components (12%), food preservation such as refrigeration (9%), and ventilation, cleaning and electronics products (6% each).
