The European Commission is looking into new financing arrangements for district heating as it prepares to deliver on the EU’s heating and cooling strategy in December, a senior official said on Tuesday.
Aspects of the heating and cooling strategy will be integrated into the energy efficiency package, the Renewable Energy Directive and the proposal for a new electricity market design, which the Commission plans to publish in December, Marie Donnelly, director at the Commission’s energy department, told a district heating conference in Brussels.
