Ireland to publish sustainability strategy by Easter

Environment minister stresses need for better data to inform policy making

The Irish Government will publish a national sustainable development strategy before Easter, according to environment minister Brendan Howlin. Addressing a symposium for environmental researchers in the University of Limerick on Friday, Mr Howlin said policy making needs to be informed by better statistical information. He undertook to ensure that the sustainable development strategy is aligned with the objectives stated in a white paper on science, technology and innovation published by the government last October.
