Business-environment groups link up

French and global group form partnership to promote business voice on sustainable development

The World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and French organisation Entreprises pour l'Environnement (EPE) yesterday announced a partnership designed to "strengthen the business voice on environmental issues". Both groups aim to spread sustainable development concepts and practices in business, and to represent business opinion on sustainable development. The WBCSD has a global membership of 125 international companies, while EPE represents 45 large French firms, such as Solvay, Renault, Michelin, Total and Rhône Poulenc. This is the first time that the WBCSD has formed a partnership with a national business-environment group. "It might lead to other types of partnerships in the future", Christine Elleboode of WBCSD told ENDS Daily.
