Electronics firm claims ISO 14001 first

D2D awarded ISO 14001 certificate for electronics recycling site in Cheshire, UK

UK electronics company Design to Distribution (D2D) has claimed Europe's first ISO 14001 environmental management certificate for an electronics recycling service. The certificate was awarded by BVQI Ltd to the company's Byley site at Middlewich in the UK, which offers services from warranty repair to end-of-life processing. D2D, which is a subsidiary of Canadian electronics giant Celestica International Holdings, has been a pioneer of environmental certification schemes in the UK. It took part in pilot programmes for the British Standard BS7750, which preceded the ISO 14001 standard, the EU's Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) and ISO 14001 while it was still in draft.
