German ministers today agreed the text of an amended law to protect the environment and people from radioactive emissions, clearing the way for its entry into force next month. The agreement followed changes which the government was forced to make by Germany's upper parliamentary house last month EED 06/06/01. The law tightens up almost all existing radiation thresholds, and for the first time includes natural radiation as well as exposure to radiation from nuclear power stations in service and those undergoing decommissioning.
