Norway acts on PCB window frames

Norway's environment ministry has announced a follow-up to warnings issued earlier this year about PCBs in double-glazed window frames (EED 14/3/2001). The firm PCB Sanering is to receive NKr1.4m (euros 176,000) to accelerate the collection of old windows for treatment at its plant, where it separates glass from the contaminated frames, which are then incinerated. The ministry is also writing to building and waste disposal companies reminding them of their legal responsibilities for safe disposal of such windows. See press release.
