Slow progress for LA21 in Denmark

Not quite a decade after the launch of local agenda 21 (LA21) in Rio de Janeiro, almost half of Denmark's municipalities have still to draw up any plans under the scheme, Politiken newspaper reported today. A poll of mayors carried out by the paper found LA21 programmes in just 150 of the nation's 275 local authorities. Even where plans have been formally adopted, in many cases they are merely expressions of good intentions with no concrete projects, according to environmentalists. See article.
