Two certification and labelling schemes for greener products were today awarded the 2001 Gothenburg international environment prize at a ceremony in the Swedish city. The international Forest stewardship council and Sweden's Krav labelling scheme for organic foods share the SKr1m (euros 106,400) prize money. Both were pioneers in their respective fields, "providing consumers with a direct opportunity to promote the production and marketing of ecological goods and services," said organisers of the prize, which is backed by several large Swedish firms.
