British firms get green reporting guidance

The UK government has issued guidance on corporate environmental reporting following a call by prime minister Tony Blair for all top firms to start issuing environmental reports (EED 24/10/00). Over 4,000 copies are to be sent to the heads of the 350 largest firms in Britain by ministers and the confederation of British industry. In a related development, the environment ministry has published the results of a survey of costs and benefits of environmental reporting, which puts the average cost per firm at UKĀ£92,700 (euros 148,900).
