Forest certification benchmarking updated

European paper association Cepi has announced improvements to its comparitive matrix of sustainable forestry certification schemes (EED 12/04/00). This forms the beginning of "a transition to a thoroughly revised information service," the body added, and is designed to encourage emerging schemes to "demonstrate even greater transparency". The global Forest Stewardship Council declined to submit updated information, claiming that the structure of Cepi's matrix makes comparisons difficult. The body said it would suggest changes "in order to reflect the FSC system in a coherent way". See press release.
