Industry welcomes "all clear" on mobile phones

Mobile phone makers have welcomed an official scientific opinion on EU exposure limits for electromagnetic radiation as further proof of their products' safety. "Expert groups have now met and considered all the facts on numerous occasions and yet again mobile phones have been given the all clear," said the Brussels-based Mobile manufacturers forum. EU scientists expressed concern over current limits for extremely low frequency radiation, but judged those for radio and microwave frequency radiation - as emitted by mobiles and mobile phone transmitters - to be adequate (EED 29/11/01).
