EU court raps Luxembourg over waste list

The European court of justice condemned Luxembourg today for failing to properly transpose the bloc's waste catalogue into its national law. The judgement was virtually a foregone conclusion after the government declined to defend itself against a European Commission action alleging the infringement of the 1975 framework waste directive (EED 19/12/01). Luxembourg said a new law complying with the directive had entered force on 1 January. See judgement in case C-196/01.
