The Italian and US governments agreed yesterday to conduct over 20 joint climate change research projects on topics including climate modelling, atmospheric studies and low-carbon technologies. In a joint statement issued after a two-day meeting in Rome, the two governments said these activities would "improve the capability to understand, monitor and predict climatic variations and their impacts". A similar environmental research cooperation protocol was signed by the EU and the USA last October (EED 19/10/01). See statement.
