Sustainable forestry NGO targets small firms

International forest protection charity the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) has launched a special chain of custody certification scheme for groups of small enterprises. The organisation said it was responding to "interest in and enthusiasm for" FSC-labelled products from smaller enterprises that found the costs and administration involved in individual accreditation prohibitive. The new scheme is designed for enterprises turning over less than US$1m (euros 1.1m), employing fewer than 25 people, and which belong to a representative organisation such as a trade association or cooperative.
