Scottish sustainability indicators published

Twenty-four sustainable development indicators were issued today by the Scottish government to back up a new framework policy for sustainability. Urging all Scots to "have regard for others", "minimise the impact of our actions" and "live within the capacity of the planet", the document recommends a special focus on energy, resource use and transport. Indicators, some including time-specific targets, include greenhouse gas emissions, tonnes of waste landfilled and recycled, vehicle kilometres travelled and percentage of journeys to work not using a car.
