French car maker PSA Peugeot Citroën and electricity firm EDF have agreed to cooperate to support wider use of electric and hybrid vehicles. France is already a clear leader in the field - boasting some 60% of the 12,500 vehicles registered in western Europe, and the move should further reinforce its dominance. The deal involves collaboration on research as well as improved information and service to electric vehicle users, while EDF is to double the size of its 1,500-strong electric fleet by 2005.
