The World health organisation has formally published the most comprehensive survey ever of scientific evidence related to endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs). Drafted by the International programme for chemical safety, the conclusions are unchanged from a draft circulated this spring (EED 14/05/02). They say there is little direct evidence for harmful effects in humans but that abundant evidence for adverse effects in wildlife gives rise to substantial concern. Campaign group WWF said the report showed an urgent need for precautionary action. See IPCS and its EDCs report, plus WWF press release.
