English biodiversity strategy released

A five-year strategy for safeguarding biodiversity in England was released yesterday by UK environment minister Margaret Beckett. Ms Beckett underlined the need to make biodiversity an "integral part" of other policies ranging from agriculture and water management to woodlands and urban areas. "We need fundamental shifts in policy and behaviour that integrate concern for biodiversity into every aspect of our lives", she said. See press release and biodiversity strategy.
