Recyclers revamp environment scrutiny body

Global recycling industries association BIR launched an "international environment council" at a meeting in Brussels last week, replacing the organisation's old environment committee. The new council will have stronger representation from environmental specialists and should improve national feedback on relevant policy developments, BIR's Ross Bartley told ENDS Europe DAILY. During the meeting Mr Bartley underlined BIR concerns that proposed changes to EU rules on waste trade would increase regulatory burdens on industry (EED 10/09/02). See press release.
