Report issued on LCA in packaging policy

Packaging chain organisation Europen has released a report on a workshop held in June on the role of life-cycle analysis (LCA) in the context of the EU's 1994 packaging directive. The workshop was organised in the context of a proposal from the European parliament to introduce into the directive an LCA-based packaging environmental indicator. Europen is against such use of the technique to determine policy making. The report includes presentations from representatives of companies, governments and the European parliament. See press release, and selection of presentations.
