Belgium condemned over EIA directive

Belgium has been condemned in the European court of justice for failing to implement a 1997 directive on environmental impact assessment. The court judgement confirmed an advocate general opinion issued in July (EED 11/07/02). The action brought by the European Commission related to late transposition in the Flanders and Wallonia regions of the country. See judgement C-319/01.
