Norwegian NGOs call for forest boycott

Three NGOs have written to "scores" of companies in the UK and Germany urging them not to buy paper or timber from Norway without documentary proof that the products have not originated from natural forests or woodlands, Aftenposten newspaper reports today. The Norwegian society for nature conservation, Nature and youth, and WWF are protesting against harvesting activities in south-eastern Norway. Legislative proposals for increased protection of natural forests are pending. See article.
