Cefic demands extended Reach assessment

European chemical industry lobby Cefic today called for an independent extended impact assessment of the European Commission's plans to revise EU substance policy before it submits final proposals. Presenting their position on the latest draft of the Reach scheme in Brussels, top Cefic officials said it contained "good news and bad news". Only "five or ten" remaining issues need resolving for the plan to be acceptable, they said. A senior Commission official told ENDS Europe DAILY an updated impact assessment - "the best one we're going to get" - would circulate within the Commission imminently. Cefic press release.
