Green ministers discuss EU-Asia cooperation

EU environment ministers and their counterparts from ten Asian countries have agreed at a meeting in Lecce, Italy, to promote the transfer of sustainable technologies, products and corporate practices through partnerships. Efforts will be made to "promote a new model of cooperation that combines economic growth and environmental protection", said Italian environment minister Altero Matteoli. Funding for environmental programmes, but also for energy, industry and transport, should all be viewed in the context of sustainable development, he added. See press release.
