EU environmental crime survey extended

The European Commission has issued a new survey of EU countries' criminal sanctions for serious breaches of EU environment legislation. The thousand-page document covers laws not included in a similar report last year (EED 02/12/02). A second new report deals with sanctions in candidate countries. The documents have been published ahead of a Commission conference on environmental crime due next month. The Commission is currently in dispute with governments over how to agree minimum sanctions for green crime (EED 31/03/03). See reports and conference programme.
